Framelet-based Multiresolution Image Fusion with an Improved Intensity-hue-saturation Transform

چکیده
The fusion of the panchromatic (PAN) image with multispectral (MS) images is a very useful tool for remote sensing applications that require both high-spatial and high-spectral resolution. A hybrid fusion method, which comprises of the standard intensity-huesaturation (IHS) transform and a wavelet transform, was recently introduced in the literature. The hybrid fusion method was able to eliminate drawbacks of the IHS and wavelet-based methods, while keeping the advantages. In this paper, we introduce a new hybrid fusion method based on the fast IHS transform with a control parameter along with the framelet transform. The control parameter is used to minimize the radiance difference between the PAN image and the intensity image. In addition, the framelet transform, which is a natural generalization of orthonormal wavelets if redundancy is introduced into the wavelet system, is used to extract the detailed spatial information from the difference image of the PAN image and the intensity image. In order to verify the performance of the proposed method, an IKONOS PAN image with MS images were used. The proposed method produces more satisfactory results, both visually and quantitatively. * Corresponding author.

Multiresolution-based image fusion with additive wavelet decomposition
The standard data fusion methods may not be satisfactory to merge a high-resolution panchromatic image and a low-resolution multispectral image because they can distort the spectral characteristics of the multispectral data. In this paper, we developed a technique, based on multiresolution wavelet decomposition, for the merging and data fusion of such images. The method presented here consists ...

Considering human visual system and characteristics of images, a novel image fusion strategy is presented for panchromatic high resolution image and multispectral image in non-subsampled contourlet transform (NSCT) domain. The NSCT can give an asymptotic optimal representation of edges and contours in image by virtue of its characteristics of good multiresolution, shiftinvariance, and high dire...

Among various image fusion methods, principal component analysis (PCA) technique is capable of quickly merging the massive volumes of data. For IKONOS imagery, PCA can yield satisfactory “spatial” enhancement but may introduce spectral distortion, appearing as a change in colors between compositions of resembled and fused multi-spectral bands. To solve this problem, a fast improved PCA fusion m...
متن کاملIntroduction of a Symmetric Tight Wavelet Frame to Image Fusion Methods Based on Substitutive Wavelet Decomposition
A useful technique in various applications of remote sensing involves the fusion of panchromatic and multispectral images. Wavelet-based approaches to image fusion generally produce high-quality spectral content in fused images. However, the spatial resolution obtained by most wavelet-based methods is less than that obtained by the intensity-hue-saturation (IHS) method. Recent studies show that...

While many remote sensing and GIS applications require both the spatial resolution and spectral resolution be high, image fusion, or in other words, image sharpening, is a useful technique. To date, numerous image fusion techniques have been developed. However, some undesirable effects such as modified spectral signatures and resolution overinjection are produced. In this paper, a novel spectra...
